Confirming your coverage

Insurance plans vary widely, even within the same company. Before your first visit, we recommend confirming directly with your insurance plan that The Pediatric Group is in-network for you. The easiest way to do this is to call your plan or check their website. They'll need:

Insurance benefits vary by plan, so it's worth knowing how yours works before your visit. A few things worth confirming with your plan:

• Co-payments

• Whether the hospitals and labs we work with are covered

• Prior authorization and referral requirements

• In-network and out-of-network provider status

A Note for New Parents

If you've just had a baby, call your insurance company within 30 days of your child's birth to add them to your plan. Most insurers require this. If you miss the window, they can refuse to add the child to coverage, which becomes a headache to undo. Allow time for your employer and insurer to process the paperwork.

Many plans also require you to designate one of our physicians as your child's Primary Care Physician (PCP) within the first 30 days. Check your plan's process for making that designation and confirm it's completed on time.
